It's Mental Health Awareness Week and this year's theme is about turning awareness into action to ensure no mind is left behind.
According to research, children and young people who take part in Scouts have a lower risk of mental illness in later life.
Scouts can play an important role in supporting wellbeing, through activities and badges, friendship, getting outdoors, and talking about and developing understanding around mental health.
Today, we are extremely excited to be able to share that we have been granted planning permission to progress our new building project forwards!
Now begins the large task of fundraising and grant funding the money needed to make this vision a reality. Our focus remains on being able to create this fantastic opportunity for the young people in our community.
We owe an enormous thanks to everyone who has assisted us and guided our volunteers through the process of planning. Particularly, a massive thanks to Mark, a local architect (Martin Ward & Keeling), who we simply couldn’t have done any of this without!
Our Founder, Robert Baden-Powell once said “try to leave this world a little better than you found it”. This facility will open the door for generations of young people to benefit from learning in the great outdoors and gaining skills for life. It will be a place to belong.
We hope to be successful in raising the funds needed and get this project, literally, off the ground.
